The Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC) is a highly coveted series of bourbons released annually by the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The collection includes five different bourbons, each with its own unique flavor profile and aging process.Â
Â
1. George T. Stagg: This bourbon is named after the legendary distiller who helped establish the Buffalo Trace Distillery. It is aged for at least 15 years and is known for its rich, complex flavour profile with notes of dark fruit, caramel, and oak.
2. William Larue Weller: This bourbon is named after another legendary distiller and is aged for at least 12 years. It is a wheated bourbon, meaning that wheat is used in place of rye in the mash bill, resulting in a softer, sweeter flavour profile with notes of vanilla, caramel, and honey.
3. Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye: This rye whiskey is named after the founder of the Sazerac Company and is aged for at least six years. It is a high-rye whiskey, meaning that it has a higher percentage of rye in the mash bill, resulting in a spicy, peppery flavour profile with notes of cinnamon and clove.
Â
4. Eagle Rare 17 Year: This bourbon is aged for at least 17 years and is known for its smooth, mellow flavour profile with notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak. It is a single barrel bourbon, meaning that each bottle is drawn from a single barrel, resulting in slight variations in flavour from bottle to bottle.
Â
5. Sazerac Rye 18 Year: This rye whiskey is aged for at least 18 years and is known for its rich, complex flavour profile with notes of dark fruit, spice, and oak. It is also a single barrel whiskey, resulting in slight variations in flavour from bottle to bottle.
